This template covers a static game site served with Google AdSense and Google Analytics 4. If you change ad network, add anything that collects data from visitors, or start using a server, it must be updated to match. Written in good faith; it is not legal advice.
There are no accounts and no sign-up, and no server of ours stores anything about you. Your game progress stays on your own device. Google is the only third party involved: it serves the adverts and provides the visitor statistics.
The game saves your career — terms played, best score, best streak, medals unlocked and
your sound preference — in your browser's local storage under the key
boeGov.v1. This is not a cookie, is never transmitted anywhere, and is not
readable by us. Clearing your browser data deletes it permanently. If your browser blocks
storage the game still works; you simply start fresh each visit.
Cookies are only set once you consent to them. Roughly what to expect:
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Typical life |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics | Tells one visitor from another so visits can be counted | Up to 2 years |
IDE, test_cookie | Google advertising (doubleclick.net) | Serving and measuring adverts, capping repeats, fraud detection | Up to 13 months |
__gads, __gpi | Google AdSense | Ad selection and frequency capping on this site | Up to 13 months |
| Consent record | Google consent message | Remembers the choice you made so you are not asked repeatedly | Up to 13 months |
Exact names and lifetimes are Google's to set and may change. The current detail is in Google's advertising cookies notice and how Google uses cookies.
Adverts are served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other sites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this and other sites on the internet. Where you have consented, those ads may be personalised to your interests.
If you are in the UK or the EEA you will be asked to consent before any non-essential cookie is set, through Google's consent message. You can change or withdraw that choice at any time using the privacy options link shown with the adverts.
Google Analytics 4 tells us how many people play, which pages they reach and where they stop. It records events such as a term being started, a term being completed with its score, a medal being earned and a result being shared, alongside device type, browser and an approximate region derived from your IP address. We read it only in aggregate and make no attempt to identify individual visitors.
The site is static files on a hosting provider. That provider records standard technical information — IP address, browser type, page requested — to keep the service running and secure. We do not use those logs for tracking.
Advertising and analytics cookies are used on the basis of your consent, which you may withdraw at any time. Nothing else on the site processes personal data.
The game suits a general audience but is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Under UK GDPR you may request access to, correction of or erasure of personal data held about you, object to or restrict its processing, and complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. Since we hold nothing about you on any server, requests about advertising data are best directed to Google, and anything held on your device can be cleared by you at any time. You are welcome to write to the contact address above with any question.
Any material change will be reflected in the "last updated" date at the top.
